Opening Scripture
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
Introduction: A promise fulfilled, a prophecy confirmed
As believers, the foundation of our faith rests on one monumental truth—the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This pivotal event is not just history; it is the fulfilment of divine promises and the confirmation of ancient prophecy. Apostle Chinedu C. Anthony, in a recent message titled “Fulfilment of Promise and the Confirmation of Prophecy”, reminded us that without Jesus’ death and resurrection, there would be no salvation. It is the heartbeat of the Gospel and the beginning of every believer’s victory.
Understanding the Power of Resurrection
Before we celebrate the resurrection, there are four essential truths we must understand:
- Prophecy:
The resurrection was not a surprise—it was foretold. Throughout Scripture, God’s plan for redemption through Jesus was clearly revealed. His life, death, and resurrection were orchestrated by divine intent. - His Birth:
Jesus’ birth was not ordinary. He was born for a purpose and so are you. Many live in endless cycles of frustration because they haven’t discovered why they were born. Like Jesus, your life has divine intent. - His Obedience (Philippians 2:8):
Jesus humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. His obedience opened the door for our redemption. - His Death:
Jesus died to break the curse that separated man from God. Humanity could not overcome this curse—but Jesus could, and did.
The Resurrection: The Proof of God’s power
A man who was not born cannot die. A man who did not die cannot rise again. Jesus’ burial was viewed as a mockery by His enemies, but His resurrection proved that God was with Him. The resurrection is more than a miraculous event—it’s a demonstration of God’s supreme power.
So, what is resurrection?
It is the bringing back to life of what was once dead. And for the believer, this is where power begins. If Jesus rose from the grave, then no situation in your life is beyond restoration. What seems dead—your joy, your hope, your vision—can come back to life by the same power that raised Christ from the dead.
Who is Jesus?
Before we celebrate the resurrection, we must ask a critical question: Who is Jesus to you?
It’s possible to celebrate a Jesus you do not truly know. Jesus is not just a figure in history—He is God who came in the image of His Son, crucified so that all men might be saved if they believe in Him.
He was not born of blood or the will of the flesh, but by the Spirit of God. If we don’t truly know Him, we risk celebrating in vain. But when we do know Him, our celebration becomes powerful, purposeful and personal.
The Role of The Holy Ghost
Nothing about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection was without the influence of the Holy Ghost:
- His conception and birth (Luke 1:28-37)
- His baptism and ministry (Luke 3:21-26)
- His death and burial (Matthew 27:60)
- His resurrection (Romans 8:11)
The Holy Ghost is the key to understanding Scripture and walking in resurrection power. Without Him, the Bible is just ink on paper. But with Him, it becomes alive and active in our lives.
Dimension’s of God’s Power
There are realms and dimensions in God’s power:
- Creative Power – Brings something out of nothing.
- Recovery Power – Uncovers and reclaims what was lost.
- Restoration Power – Returns what was taken or broken.
- Judgmental Power – Executes divine justice.
But the Resurrection Power is the highest of them all. It turns death to life and despair into destiny.
Conclusion
You may be in a situation that looks dead—relationships, dreams, finances—but resurrection power is real, and God is working behind the scenes. If Jesus rose, your situation can rise too.
