The Force of Testimony

Key Scripture

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony – Luke 21:12-13 (KJV)

Introduction

As we reflect on the journey so far this year, one truth rings louder than ever: Testimonies are not optional, they are essential. Every believer is wired with the expectation that every challenge, trial and delay will eventually turn into a testimony. Testimonies are not just stories. They are powerful, spiritual confirmations that God is still at work. They build faith, fuel revival and bring glory to God. When testimonies are missing, something is out of order.

“Scarcity of testimonies is the absence of men. The day you cease to have testimonies you cease to live.”

Why Testimonies are Irreplaceable

Many came to church not because of eloquent preaching or colorful flyers, but because they heard that God had done something for someone. Testimonies are divine magnets, they draw people to God. That’s why the gospel cannot be effective without them. Our gathering is incomplete without them.

In fact, the gospel is rendered useless without four key elements:

  1. Finance“Through prosperity shall my cities be spread abroad” (Zech 1:17)
  2. Power – The supernatural must accompany the message.
  3. People – Where there’s no vision, people perish, where there are no people, vision dies.
  4. Testimonies – Proof that God answers prayers.

The Danger of Ingratitude

“Any testimony you hide is not genuine.”

Hiding your testimony is not humility, it is ingratitude. Testimony isn’t just what God did for you financially or materially. Waking up in the morning is a testimony. Breathing, walking, having peace of mind, escaping danger – these are miracles many overlook.

When you don’t see God’s hand in the ordinary, you are walking in ingratitude. Ingratitude is the character of someone who has not seen what God has done. Ungratefulness is when you do not know that waking up in the morning is a testimony.

Don’t Block Your Own Door

There’s a warning for those who minimize or criticize other people’s testimonies.

“Don’t criticize other people’s testimonies, else you are shutting your door permanently.”

Instead of doubting or downplaying others’ stories, celebrate them. Every testimony shared is a seed of possibility in your own life. Those that thank God can never be stranded. If you remove testimonies, there is no tool for evangelism.”

Why Do We Share Testimonies?

  1. To publicly appreciate God for what He God has done.
  2. To encourage others and boost their faith.
  3. To put the devil and his agents to shame.
  4. To convert souls to the kingdom.

There is no faith anywhere, testimony is faith. Testimony is the evidence that God answers prayers.

Conclusion

Testimonies are more than moments, they are movements of faith. Every believer must develop a culture of recognizing and declaring what God has done. Testimonies don’t just happen, you work it out. Through prayer, trust, action and gratitude, your life becomes a living testimony. The force of testimony is one of heaven’s most powerful tools, when used well, it transforms lives, breaks strongholds and glorifies God.
